It’s a new year and I have a fresh new perspective on life. Yesterday marked exactly one month since Will and I returned home from our backpacking-’round-the-world-gone-terribly-wrong ordeal. Two days after we came home I started physiotherapy (or physical therapy as I believe it’s called down here in the US) under the instruction of one of my dear friends, and also started working out. I’ve gone from crutches to power yoga in the space of 30 days and to top it all off, I celebrated with my first post-injury shoot yesterday afternoon. A maternity session for good friends who are also celebrating new beginnings.
Heath and Marla are almost 36 weeks pregnant and I absolutely cannot wait to witness the joy and inspiration their little one will bring, not only to their own lives, but to the community surrounding them. Here are a few photos from our shoot to bring a little inspiration and warmth into your own world this weekend.
Heath and Marla, Will and I are so excited for you both and are so thankful for the true blessing of your friendship. We pray for you often and cannot wait to meet the newest member of your family!
And as for my fresh start and new perspective in 2013, I’d like to end with a quote from Oswald Chamber’s “My Utmost for His Highest” which I read on December 31st of 2012. These words have brought me great comfort as I struggled (and continue to struggle) with resentment of a dream shattered, an injury to heal from, and a future full of uncertainty:
“Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest, but let it rest in the sweet embrace of Christ. Leave the broken, irreversible past in His hands, and step out into the invincible future with Him.”
Wishing you all a blessed new year,
Jaime Fenwick
