It was an overcast, steamy afternoon in the South American city of Cartagena, and I was six months pregnant, (read: super uncomfortable with mega-swollen feet) but Katie’s effervescent personality and Alejandro’s laid-back Colombian attitude brought the perfect blend of charm to our pre-wedding shoot around Cartagena’s historic city centre. The horse-drawn carriage didn’t hurt to amp up the ambience either…and my feet were especially enthused! From streetside salted mango bites to the loveliest tropically-toned exteriors, Cartagena delivered the senses with the best this UNESCO World Heritage Site had to offer. Here for your enjoyment is just a taste of what Cartagena’s city streets have to offer lovers the world over!
6 Perfect Travel Accessories for my Colombia Trip:
-Chiffon maxi dresses: light and breezy and super simple to dress up or down
-My squishy down-filled pillow. It saved my mega-pregnant self from some discomfort while traveling!
-Stainless steel Camelbak water bottle: kept my water cool, and me hydrated…a carabiner slipped through the top’s handle made it quick to hook onto my camera bag.
-Audible. Books get heavy and I’m one of those people who have several on the go at once because I like picking up something that suits my mood. Audio books on my iPhone helped make long flights and endless layovers more enjoyable.
-My cousin Stephanie! Okay, so obviously not an accessory, but she did meet up with me in Colombia to hang out for the week and I don’t know WHAT I would have done without her! When you’re pregnant and feeling more vulnerable than normal, it’s oh-so-lovely to have a trusted friend by your side, especially when out exploring someplace new!
