I could spend hours photographing architectural details. I’ve been fascinated by architecture my entire life, but as a young girl decided that a field requiring too much math couldn’t be for me. But taking the time to capture the beauty of architecture and design…now that cranks my engine!
Longwood is an unfinished, antebellum home in the historic, river-side city of Natchez, Mississippi. It is the largest octagonal home in America and while only the first floor was finished, (war broke out and prevented the rest from ever being completed) the detail in this place is stunning. Right down to the fabulous bronze doorknobs turned teal with patina. I spent a good fifteen minutes about an inch or so away from these doorknobs and just hoped no one would come bashing through the door, smacking me and my camera to the ground!
I’m a details girl, and love how just a glimpse of something can allow the imagination to wander and ideas to form. Hope you enjoy the photos and enjoy some creative mental rambling! I on the other hand, am experiencing some creative rumbling…and am about to go find something interesting for breakfast.
