James + Nicky’s Tahoe Wedding at the Resort at Squaw Creek

So here I sit, tense as all get out, half watching THE hockey game and half trying to think of things to write to you.  To be honest, since there’s 5 minutes left in the 3rd period and Vancouver is holding on by ONE. MERE. GOAL., I’m gonna let these photos speak for themselves…and write a bit more on the back end of this blog post!

AND THEY WON!!!  All right, now back to business!

Aren’t James + Nicky great?  And they were so good-natured about the weather too…can you believe this is a June shoot?  It looks like a cozy winter shoot from the inside of the Great Room/Lobby at the Resort at Squaw Creek.  While we didn’t wind up with the blue sky/green grass scenario that one might hope to get in June in Tahoe’s Squaw Valley, we did get some gorgeous shots that I think reflect the warmth and love that emanate from this beautiful couple.

On another note, I’d love to know what you think of the gallery-style format for viewing photos.  Like/Dislike?  Pros/Cons?  Feel free to send the feedback my way folks!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!  “Friday’s Favourite” is coming up next…as in maybe tomorrow…or the next day!  Don’t judge, I’m not really that flakey!  I know it’s only my second one but I’ve got weddings coming out of my ears and I’ve been traveling a lot this week.  But I swear, by Monday, you’ll have Friday’s Favourite!

Sneak Peek from James + Nicky’s Tahoe wedding at the Resort at Squaw Creek

It’s almost 11pm, the wedding was fabulous, the Canucks won, I’ve already been for a dip in the hot tub and am about to head down to the GORGEOUS lobby at the Resort at Squaw Creek for a drink with my husband, but I couldn’t resist posting a photo from James + Nicky’s wedding.

Here it is folks!  Straight out of the can, unedited, untouched.  Congratulations to James and Nicky and many thanks to their most excellent wedding party who provide loads of fun and laughs!

Cheers!

Jaime

  • Jaime! My computer was being lame and not loading the pics from your blog. It’s now working fine. I do not understand technology! Anyway, the point is I loved your tea party post (that purple dress…WOW!) and your friday fave (I wanted to literally jump through my screen and escape this cold, grey June day and land on one of those deck chairs) and I can’t wait to see more photos from this wedding!ReplyCancel

Hey there! More photos from the wedding to come this Friday Jacqui…you’d have LOVED this place! Tenley, I actually don’t have more edited (this one wasn’t even edited!). I’ll be posting some favourites by the end of this week and then after that the rest of the photos will be uploaded to James + Nicky’s private gallery in about 6 weeks. Feel free to check out the rest of the blog as well as the website though for more of my work! Heather, I wish you could have been at that tea party…you’d have loved it! And I’m glad you were able to finally view the photos….I only know what to do with technology when it’s working!!!ReplyCancel

I’m starting something new called Friday’s Favourite.  Or Friday’s Photo Favourites.  Or something of that nature.  Suggestions on the name are totally welcome by the way.

Anyway, the point is that every Friday I’ll be posting a favourite photo of mine that I’ve hauled out from the vault.  With my new blog I’ve been determined to feature more of my personal photos, so I figure something regular and scheduled will help me stay disciplined.  I have a friend who posts a photo a day to her Facebook wall using her iphone.  Overachiever.

As of late, I’ve been dreaming about Villa del Faro, this incredible eco-hotel which was built by an American family of artists who slaved for YEARS to create this stunning out-of-the-way villa by hand.  It’s a crazy-rough drive out a ways from San Jose del Cabo and not for those who get motion sick; definitely white-knuckle driving at its finest.  But oh the reward…  Cozied up to the Sea of Cortez and overflowing with hand-hewn architecture and careful landscaping, this place is heaven.  Will and I spent the last several days of our honeymoon in this jaw-dropping lap of luxury.  And at not too bad a deal either…we didn’t stay in the casitas or villa, which are pricier, we actually stayed ON the beach in a rock-walled, thatched roof cottage with solar shower and pit toilet!  No complaints here amigos, we had a private beach all to ourselves.  We also had this ridiculously gorgeous pool all to ourselves as it was July and not anywhere near the busy season.  Oh, and did I mention the food was killer?  And best margaritas you ever did partake of!  Devora, our hostess, was the cherry on top of it all–warm, hospitable, and oh-so friendly.  We’ve actually stayed in touch and I cannot wait to see this wonderful woman again. I also can’t wait for some warm weather.  Come ON California!!!  I know this isn’t SoCal, but it’s June for crying out loud, and we’re about to have to put chains on our tires so we can get to the wedding I’m shooting in Tahoe this weekend!

Ahhhhhh……just staring at that makes me forget all about the snow.  Glorious.

Well I’m outta here like a heard of turtles.  Feel free to pitch in your suggestions for photos you’d like to see on Fridays!

Adios!
