Friday’s Favourite | Farming the English Countryside

Farming the English Countryside, Devon, England

English Countryside | Wellies in a Farmyard | Jaime Lauren Photography

After drinking an inordinate amount of Darjeeling liquid goodness at an English tea room yesterday, and after chatting with a friend living in Devon this morning, all I can think about is clotted cream, (better than it sounds) verdant hills full of sheep, and that pair of Hunter wellies I’ve been wishing for these past four years.  It’s been too long since I’ve been to the English countryside and I’d like nothing more than to grab some boots and tromp around a farm or through a field, working up an appetite for a Cornish pasty or a warm scone served with strawberry preserves and spreadable clotted cream.  And to see a couple of dear friends who live in the southwest of England!

Speaking of friends, these boots belong to a farming family I got to know in Devon.  I can’t remember how many generations back their farm dates, or how long it’s been in the family, but born a Manitoba prairie girl, I have a high regard for families who farm.  For me this photo embodies the family farm and the English countryside.  It’s one of my favourites!

Have a great weekend!

Jaime
