This couple is really near and dear to my heart. Reba and I became fast friends the month after I moved to Livermore almost 4 years ago, (my first friend in town actually) and since she and Steven started dating, both Will and I have really enjoyed spending time with them both. I’m so thrilled for this amazing duo who are ridiculously head over heels for one another, and I can’t wait to seem them tie the knot next spring!
As far as their engagement shoot goes, Reba and Steven wanted to make sure a few special touches were included: the dress Reba’s wearing in the second half of the shoot was the one she wore the night Steven proposed and the bottle of Rombauer wine is one of these oenophiles’ favourites. Reba’s extended family has deep roots up in Napa Valley and has introduced me to a number of my own favourite wines and wineries over the years. Rombauer is just up the road from Reba’s grandmother’s picturesque ranch in St. Helena, and this shoot really reflects this couple’s natural affinity for the countryside (though shot here in Livermore, our very own wine country).
And here are a few frames shot on 35mm film thrown in…you’ll be seeing more on film in the coming months! These were shot with Fuji 400H and scanned by Photovision Prints up in Oregon. They do beautiful work and I’m excited to continue collaborating with them over the next while! It really feels good to be working with film again these days…the colours and tangibility of film is something digital just doesn’t deliver for me, and there’s also something incredibly satisfying about spending more time trusting one’s technique and focusing on the couple as opposed to checking the back of the camera! If you like what you see from my film shots, please leave a note in the comments section.
Congratulations to Reba and Steven! Cheers to your beautiful relationship and upcoming marriage…Will and I can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Jaime
Jaime, these are beautiful! I adore the golden light and the warmth you captured for this couple. Makes me feel like I went to California for a few minutes there. Love.
It is so great to see the result of the shoot.
