This past week spent in and around Winnipeg has been full of inspiration and things that have brought me back to my Prairie roots. From the wheat harvest and birch trees to Mennonite baking and good old fashioned hymns, I’ve garnered a newfound appreciation for the colours, culture, and light of the Prairies. Enjoy!
PS The captions below each photo on this Inspiration Board are all commentary I’ve drummed up…nothing just copied over from somewhere else. I really wanted to express WHY these things matter to me and how they’ve moved me this week.
PPS Last night I did a photo shoot with my cousin Steph and her boyfriend Rich out in the fields and had my first encounter with mosquitos on this trip. Thankfully I got very few bites in spite of the fact that we were clambering through ditches and fields. I’m attributing this lovely turn of events to a new bug repellent I’m testing out for our travels this fall:

The smell was a bit potent, but not nasty…more eucalyptus and lemon than classic bug spray aroma. And I loved the pen-sized pump which is easy to take along on an evening stroll or location shoot. I think I’ll be stopping by REI for a larger bottle for our adventures. I’d love to know if anyone else has given the product a go…
